Piet Hein Eek
Dutch-born, Piet Hein Eek is one of Europe's most prominent leader
in sustainable art and design.
With work spanning furniture, fine art, textiles and accessories he is known for his use of repurposed materials, including scrap wood
and industrial steel remnants.
Piet Hein Eek has built his business around old materials,
saving discarded pieces of wood and working outside
the circuit of mass production.
His instantly recognisable work considers the tension
between modernity and tradition,
waste and sustainability.
"A kind of thick-walled glass test tubes"
is how Eek describes these objects,
made with glassware obtained by
the Philips glass workshop in the
industrial area of Strijp-T.
The number of these industrial looking
vases is limited: 52 small, 160 medium
and 4 largetube pots in the whole world.

the designer's signature vocabulary of
wood collage morphs into a design
of exceptional semplicity.
It features a laminated seat, with a gentle
curve for additional confort and - due to
the recycled nature of the wood used -
each stool features a unique
color combination.
Eek used recycled materials to create a range of lights that resemble traditional old lamps.
